Who it's for

A homeowner or renter who knows what has to stay on, such as the Wi-Fi, the fridge or the furnace, and doesn't yet know whether that means a UPS, a power station or a generator.

How we work

We compare published specs and show the arithmetic. We have no lab and we don't run tests. Every number on the site is either the maker's rating or a calculation you can repeat. On some UPS and power station picks, we also say what owners report and link where it came from. How we make these guides has the details.
